A classic specimen of bornite from the Džezkazgan site in Kazakhstan, mounted on a typical matrix of coarse-grained sandstone covered with tiny crystals of quartz. The unusually large bornite crystal is accompanied by a pinkish calcite crystal. The specimen dates from the 1990s. The site has been unproductive for several decades, and similar specimens are now found only rarely. Due to this fact and the size of the bornite crystal, this is an exceptional specimen.
