Painite

Painite is one of the borates with the most fascinating history. To this day, it is considered the rarest gem-quality mineral in the world. Until the beginning of this century, only three specimens were known. It was only in recent years that painite crystals on a matrix were discovered. Thanks to a groundbreaking discovery at the Kyauk-Pyat-That site in 2022, painite specimens of exceptional quality have come to light. The main painite crystal in this impressive specimen measures 1.4 cm, and its greatest feature is its high luster. The crystal is not terminated.
