A beautiful shiny and almost transparent calcite crystal from the Bor quarry in Dalnegorsk, Russia. A well-developed hexagonal crystal with remarkable growth surfaces protrudes from an unusual base formed by so-called tectonic quartz, which owes its unique habit to calcite lamellae that no longer exist today.
