Cuprite, Miersite

Between 2009 and 2012, the Rubcovsk locality in Russia enriched the collector community with breathtaking specimens of cuprite crystals, which were at least equal in quality to the best cuprite specimens found to date. The unique accompanying minerals – silver and copper iodides and crystallized pure silver – were an extraordinary added value. This specimen is a collector’s item featuring an interesting combination of dark red metallic-sheen cuprite and light green miersite ((Ag,Cu)I). The site has now been mined and reclaimed.
