Cuprite, silver, miersite

Between 2009 and 2012, the Rubtsovsk locality in Russia enriched the collector community with breathtaking specimens of cuprite crystals, which were at least equal in quality to the best cuprite specimens found to date. The unique accompanying minerals – silver and copper iodides and crystallized pure silver – were an extraordinary added value. This specimen is an impressive combination of dark red metallic shiny cuprite, bright canary green miersite ((Ag,Cu)I) and fine aggregates of crystallized silver. The site has now been mined and reclaimed.
