Painite

Painite is one of the borates with the most fascinating history. To this day, it is considered the rarest gem-quality mineral in the world. Until the beginning of this century, only three specimens were known. It was only in recent years that painite crystals on a matrix were discovered. Thanks to a groundbreaking discovery at the Kyauk-Pyat-That site in 2022, painite specimens of exceptional quality came to light. This impressive specimen features a striking, massive, terminated crystal measuring 3 cm, embellished with accrescional ruby crystals.
