Painite

Painite is one of the borates with the most fascinating history. To this day, it is considered the rarest gem-quality mineral in the world. Until the beginning of this century, only three specimens were known to exist. It was only in recent years that painite crystals on a matrix were discovered. Thanks to a groundbreaking discovery at the Kyauk-Pyat-That site in 2022, painite specimens of exceptional quality have come to light. The horizontal crystal of this exceptional specimen is terminated on both ends; the 3.3 cm vertical crystal is also terminated and features ruby crystals growing on it, making it exceptionally attractive to collectors.
